Interview1. What inspired this book?
I love putting new spins on old legends. What would the Knights of the Round Table—and their immortal enemies—do if they were dropped into modern times? Sure, the knights were heroic, sexy, and brave, but they had real emotions and foibles. Our world and the people in it are very different for them—especially since they have to do their heroics in secret. Add romance to the mix and let the fun begin.
2. What was the most difficult part about working on this book?
The Camelot stories have their roots in Arthurian legends, which some readers know well and others not at all. I’m careful to fill in the background so that no previous knowledge of the stories is necessary, and I do that without big chunks of explanation. It takes some time to get that right so everything is smooth and fast-paced.
3. Who is your favorite character in this book?
I love the version of Merlin I’ve created. He’s very wounded and guilty and has more secrets than even I know about. He’s a minor character but he really wanted to steal the show. Maybe someday I’ll let him.
