Author Thursday: Interview with A. Catherine Noon

The awesome A. Catherine Noon is back today to discuss her upcoming release, Emerald Keep. Enjoy! :)

1. What flavor is your writing?

Flavor, huh? Curry. ~grin~ Honestly, that’s a tough question, because it depends on the stories. The Persis Chronicles are sweet and tender, whereas the Chicagoland Shifters series is kinky and more hard core. The Sealed series is somewhere in the middle, depending on the book.

I’m excited about our newest release, which is Emerald Keep; it’s out on April 8th – so just a couple weeks away. It’s very tender, with a bit of mystery and a dash of sexy. We write M/M romance, but this series is all about the relationships and is science fantasy.

2. If this book was made into a movie, who would you cast to play the characters?

Picking an actor for Emerald Keeper Teeka would be tough, because we “cast” him as a particular model and we only have one image of him. For Quill, I’d have to pick a younger Joel Wyman.

3. What is your favorite scene in Emerald Keep?

That would have to be Trufflemania, which is fairly late in the book so I don’t want to give away the surprise. But the truffles play a pivotal role in the story.

What’s a truffle, you say?

Well, that’s easy! It’s a cross between an aardvark and a cocker spaniel. They have soft, fluffy reddish brown fur and make great pets, though they don’t like being underground so if you live in a cave city full time, it might not be the pet for you.

4. What are you reading now or what books do you have in your TBR pile?

I’m reading, and thoroughly enjoying, Deena Metzger’s book, Writing For Your Life. If you are looking for a good how-to writing book, I’d add this one to your basket. She’s got a unique approach and I’ve actually started writing poetry again after a decade-long dry spell. Check her out. You’ll be glad you did.

5. What are you working on now?

We’re working on Book 3 of the Persis Chronicles, Sapphire Dream, which will follow Sapphire Keeper Cheula as he finds a home among the tents of Persis.
